Bicomponent fibre; bicomponent fibre

chemical fibre produced from two polymers of different physical or chemical properties so that the two polymers of a single fibre are side-by-side, or the fibre consists of the core and cover (centric-cover-core). B. f. may be created from a single polymer which contains fibrils/fibres of a second polymer arranged non-homogeneously (Matrix fibril). The difference in contractility of the two components is achieved by crimping the fibre.
