Cord coating

heavyweight, very strong woollen fabric which is stiff to the touch and has distinctive steep ribbing achieved by a close sett in the warp and a stitched, stepped twill weave with a large repeat or a reform weave; may also be in a double-cloth rendering. The back may be combed, and it has a colour pattern. In the warp, multi-wound mouliné worsted yarn is used, in the weft a darker, twisted one-colour yarn; this creates its characteristic mouliné look. The fabric is used for topcoats, winter coats, and the coats of uniforms.
