Core-yarn

composed of two components, the inner of which is the core yarn, with the other of spinnable fibres which are wound around the whole length. Created on gimping machines by the gimping of elastomer fibres of staple-fibre yarn or non-elastic continuous filaments, or by the insertion of an elastomer fibre into the roving. C. y. is used for the production of elastic fabrics, knits, etc.
