Cover coat

stiff, midweight woollen fabric with ribbing in fine relief which may be diagonal, broken or otherwise patterned by the weave. In the warp mouliné worsted yarn is used; in the weft the yarn is single or twice twisted, providing the characteristic mouliné appearance. In five-bond reinforced satin (cover coat) weave or circassian, where steep notches are achieved by differences in the pick and the low-repeat, stitched, two-step twill. Used for men's suits, trousers and overcoats, sometimes also for ladies' suits. In the past was used for skiing trousers. The name is taken from the English.
