Decatizing

technology for applying the final finish to wool fabrics. Either the fabric is wound firmly around a perforated roller and submerged in hot water (which also circulates within the fabric) - wet d.; or the product is worked by hot steam - dry d. By the action of damp heat and pressure the fabric is stabilized and the gloss is reduced (particularly in fabrics of worsted yarn) while the touch and general appearance of the product are improved.
