Duvetine; duvetine; see duvetine (1)

soft cotton fabric with a thick, shallow pile (on the face, this is shallower than is the case with velvet). The fabric is midweight, of satin weave, from semi-fine yarn in the warp and coarser yarn in the weft. A shallow pile is achieved by combing and shearing. Used for sports coats and jackets, boys' suits and also for technical purposes. Is an imitation of deerhide and is also known as "monkey hide".
