Embossing; gaufrage

finish for application on [[100367|silk]] and [[100079|cotton fabrics]] which uses an embossing calender with rollers with a positive- and negative engraved pattern, achieving thereby a fine relief effect. This finish is not permanent in every case. With fabrics made from thermoplastic synthetic fibres, at the appropriate working temperature the finish achieves a certain permanence. Used in ladies' dresses, linings and in fabrics intended for decorative purposes.
