Evening jacket
is close-fitting, elements of its front have the shape of a suit waistcoat, and it reaches to just below the waist. The remainder of its front is extended at the sides and joined by tapering at the back of the garment to reach to the knee. Front parts stand apart and are adorned on each side with a row of non-fastening buttons. Side seams are positioned notably towards the back of the garment, forming in an arc at the armholes under the shoulder blades. From the waist down each has a one-way concealed crease, and instead of a back seam below the waist there is a long vent. The [[100268|lapel collar]] is closed, and the lapels are of [[100646|lustrous silk fabric]]. The evening jacket is part of evening dress.
