Faille

relatively durable, slightly lustrous, mid- to heavyweight silk fabric, with transverse ribbing, decorated as with rep, and in linen weave. Produced from fine silk in the warp and from chappe silk yarn or combed wool yarn in the weft. By using warp and weft yarns of different colours, an effect of iridescence is achieved. Fabric can be given a transparentmoirépattern. Used for ladies' dresses and coats, and also in the production of hats.
