two-tier light knit construct; close-fitting, with a back created from polypropylene fibres. Its function is to divert perspiration to the upper, [[100078|cotton]] layer, which is able to absorb moisture and gradually cause it to evaporate. The skin is in contact with the lower, dry side only. I. p. products are very well able to absorb perspiration during wear, giving the wearer a sensation of dryness even when his exertions are heavy. I. p. is used in the production of outer garments for sports- and leisurewear, and also for underwear and hygiene products under various trading names.
