Lace

airy, diaphanous textile, produced by a weave or one or more thread systems. One edge is straight, the other variously picot; in some cases, both edges are straight, or both are picot. Produced in widths of up to 250 mm. L. is used for the adornment of lingerie, and also in other clothing.
