Ladderproof finish; non-run finish; run-proof finish

reduces or eliminates laddering in [[100965|knits]]. In knits from a Cotton's frame this is created by the transferring of [[100838|stitches]] (patinet 1:1). [[100400|Tuck floats]], too, reduce the opening of stitches. In addition to this there are many ladderproof weaves, the most frequently used of which include Mayer's weave, binding-thread weave, and weave with double-elongated stitches. Its principal use is in the production of stockings, in which it prevents the opening of stitches.
