Mineral fibre
is obtained from melt; is one of a group of fibres produced from slag, or produced from natural feldspar. Has a smooth surface and circular cross-section, giving it the look of glass fibre. Is very heat-stable and resistant to chemicals. Is not spinnable, and thus it is used only for technical purposes as a material for heat and sound insulation.
