Ottoman

soft, midweight woollen fabric with transverse ribbing; in linen or rep weave from worsted or fine carded yarn. Used for ladies' dresses and coats. Produced also from cotton and silk o., it is used for decorative purposes. The name is given by the French "ottomane" - a Turkish fabric which was used for a low reclining seat of this name.
