Pyjama cloth

well-established and oft-used term for a midweight cotton fabric which is produced in linen weavefrom medium-fine yarns. Has a characteristic vertical, lustrous stripe in various groupings, which is achieved by differing weaves (typically satin). P. c. can also be plain or printed. It is produced for use as nightwear, although sometimes it is used for blouses and summer dresses.
