Ski cloth

heavyweight woollen fabric which is extensively fulled, dense, has a subtle, felted surface, and a short pile concealing its linen, circassian, combined twil or tricot weave. Produced from medium-fine carded yarns and impregnated. Production is in decline, as the use of this type of fabric for skiwear has been superseded by expansible and synthetic fabrics. Its name is derived from its principal purpose - use as a fabric for ski trousers.
