Stiffening (finish)

the forming of a film on the surface of a fibre influences thetouch of the product and has a stiffening effect. This f. is composed of a stiffening treatment, which contains starch, vegetable gum resins, glue, the dispersion of synthetic resins, etc. It is applied in fabrics for use in girdles, bodices and bras.
