Stitch; loop

basic element of the weave of a [[100965|knit]], created by the threading together of [[100504|loops]] or othet stitches. Instead of the point at which different stitches cross, it is the [[101455|binding point ]] of the knit. A s. is composed of a needle arc, two walls and two sinker semi-arcs. A face s. is formed if the loop is threaded from back to front, with the walls of the s. prominent; a back s. is formed if the loop is pulled through from front to back, with the arc of the s. prominent.
