Stout cotton gabric

cotton fabric which is an imitation of low-cost woollen fabric . Is heavyweight, thin-sett and is produced from coarse mouliné yarn in the warp and vigogne yarn in the weft, in twill weave. Is characteristically dark-grey in colour and has vertical stripes. This fabric is intended for use in work clothing and low-cost trousers. The name is derived from the German "Zeug" - meaning "junk" or "work" (or "something inferior"); it is used as a special term for a fabric of coarse cotton-waste yarn, i.e. a low-cost inferior fabric.
