Taffeta

stiff, thick, midweightsilk fabric with a slight metallic lustre and bold but fine transverse rep ribbing; produced in linen weave with a thick warp and somewhat stiff to the touch. Produced from natural silk or viscose rayon. Used in ladies' dresses for special occasions. It comes in various types, and we distinguish between alpaca t., armure t., broché t., ecossaise t., façonné t., fleur t., glassé t., chameleon t., imprimé t., quadrillé t., mousseline t., rayé t., rep t., sateen t., changeant t., chiffon t., chiné t., traverse t., uni t. and vegetable t..
