Ticking (cloth); drill

[[100079|cotton]] or [[100666|flax]] fabric of medium thickness with a distinctive [[101448|weave]]in a pattern of squares, rectangles or other geometric figures alternating in the warp and the weft of [[100497|twill]] or [[100049|satin weaves]] by the maintaining of [[100876|sharp turns in the weaving sequence]] at the division of the warp and weft [[101455|binding points]]. Used for towels and tablecloths. In lively colours t. forms part of some folk costumes.
