Toga

men's top garment worn in Ancient Rome by freemen only. The main togas included the toga virilis, worn by men over 16 years old, the toga candida, which was bleached and worn by candidates of the higher authorities, the toga praetexta, which was bordered in purple and worn by youths, and the toga purpura, which was red and the garment of senators.
