Turn-up; tuck; fold

area around a cut-out part of a garment, which lies between the selvege and the edge; intended for folding, and enables the widening or lengthening of the garment. Is not visible on the finished garment. A t. which joins garment at the seam is referred to as a set-in t.; an end t. forms the end edge.
