Twill cord for riding suits; riding twill; cavalry twill

heavyweight woollen fabric which is full, even stiff to the touch, with a coarse, clear diagonal ribbing in an emphathized stepped [[100497|twill weave]]. The back is sometimes combed. The worsted yarn of the weft is [[10764;|mouliné]]; in the weft it can also be carded. Used for trousers - often riding breeches - and coats with a sporty look. The names "cavalry twill" and "riding twill" are interchangeable: this kind of fabric is used for riding breeches and sportswear.
