Two-warp crosswise folded fabric

lightweight cotton or silk f., on the surface of which are transverse folds formed by means of two warp systems (basic and scrimped) and one weft system. After interweaving with an extra-tight (basic) warp, all the woven-in wefts slip over to the f. woven previously only in the warp of the fold along the basic warp, creating a transverse fold. The f. is used for ladies' dresses, blouses and coats.
