Batik

a manual technique for the printing or dyeing of fabrics by means of waxes or inventive binding; places on the fabric (pictures) are covered which should remain uncoloured. After dyeing the wax or binding is removed; the uncovered area this has covered provides the pattern as required. This old technique has its origins on the island of Java.
