technology for applying the final finish to wool fabrics. Either the fabric is wound firmly around a perforated roller and submerged in hot water (which also circulates within the fabric) - wet d.; or the product is worked by hot steam - dry d. By the action of damp heat and pressure the fabric is stabilized and the gloss is reduced (particularly in fabrics of worsted yarn) while the [[100849|touch]] and general appearance of the product are improved.
