Kendir fibre

bast [[101486|fibre]] from an annual bast plant of the periwinkle family. Distinctive for its great strength, softness and hygroscopicity. Cottonized fibres are very thin and soft, and even finer than cotton. K. f. is cultivated in south-east Asia. Its main uses are in coarser fabrics and cord products.
