Upper needle thread

twice-twisted cotton worsted yarn. Two single yarns are first twisted together by an [[101143|S twist]], after which two yarns thus twisted are twisted in the resultant thread in a [[101544|Z twist]]. Has a plain, circular, closed surface, with the increased strength requisite for machine sewing. T. are [[100719|mercerized]].
