Vigoureux yarn
multi-coloured fancy yarn, typically tone-in-tone, with a characteristic calming look achieved by the mixing of printing combings, from which woollen worsted yarns are produced. Differs from [[100715|melange yarn]] in that individual v. yarns are multi-colour-printed locally. (The fibres of melange thread are one-colour, and its multi-coloured look is achieved by the mixing of several colours.) The name is given by the inventor of this technique, Frenchman J. S. Vigoureux. Very high-quality [[101499|woollen fabrics]] are also referred to as being of v. y.; they are produced from worsted v. yarn and used in men's and ladies' suits.
